Yes. Toothpaste is treated as a paste for US airport screening. Pack a small tube with your other carry-on liquids, or put a larger ordinary tube in checked baggage.
Carry-on or checked?
- Carry-on: Container capacity at most 100 ml (3.4 fl oz), in your one quart-sized liquids bag.
- Personal item: The same rule applies; a second cabin bag does not give you a second liquids allowance.
- Checked: The checkpoint liquid-container limit does not apply to ordinary toothpaste. Close the cap and bag the tube against leaks.
Does a half-empty tube count?
Choose a container within the permitted capacity. A partly used large tube does not become a travel-size container. Do not treat grams on a label as a direct conversion to millilitres.
Before you pack
Read the package size rather than relying on “travel size” marketing. For prescription toothpaste or an unusual formulation, check the relevant screening guidance. Outside the US, consult your departure and transfer airports.
